Facebook Page Verification: An Archived Guide

Published by Samsiani

To verify a Facebook Page and obtain a blue or grey badge under the process described in this archived guide, you first needed to check Facebook's eligibility criteria. Verification was possible, but not available to every page.

Facebook's Help article explained that blue badges were available to brands, media organisations and public figures. Reviewers considered account completeness, compliance with Facebook's policies and public interest.

For pages outside those categories, Facebook suggested other ways to establish authenticity. Review its Terms of Service and ensure that everything on your page, from the profile photograph to the posts, accurately represents the business or person. The verification process then involved completing the form labelled Request a blue verification

After submission, Facebook asked for a photograph of an identity document, such as a passport or driving licence. It might also ask why the account should receive a blue badge. The team requested an honest explanation to help assess the application. A few sentences were enough for that explanation.

Applicants received a notification after review. Under the process described here, an unsuccessful application could be submitted again after 30 days.
